Dresden is the capital of the State of Saxony, located in the south-east of Germany. Berlin, the German capital is situated about two hours north and Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic is also very close. Dresden, with around 530,000 inhabitants, not only has a strong cultural appeal, but is also the political, economic and scientific center of the State of Saxony.

The Dresden microelectronics and IT cluster Silicon Saxony e.V. counts 1,500 member companies with more than 48,000 employees. The association networks manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, colleges / universities, research institutes, public institutions and industry-relevant start-ups.

Scientific Research
Dresden is home to numerous research institutes and universities, including the TU Dresden, which was awarded the title of "University of Excellence" in 2012. In total there are over 40 research institutions in Dresden. The four largest German research organizations with their institutes are also represented. In 2006 Dresden was honored with the title "City of Science". The capital of Saxony is a future-compliant location, which is characterized by a close interlinking of science and research and which creates innovative developments that set impulses worldwide.
 
Tourism

Dresden is not only the Saxon stronghold of business and science, but also one of the most popular tourist destinations in Germany.
